What We Do
All of us need help from time to time, but it often takes courage to seek it out. When we go through difficult life transitions, such as the end of a relationship, the death of someone close, or a significant change in our health, counseling can reconnect us to what is most important and meaningful in our lives. The therapists of The Center for Creative Resources (CCR) offer practical assistance to clients dealing with a range of issues, and we have been trained in a wide range of therapeutic techniques. We work with individuals, couples, families, children, adolescents and groups to address the following:

  • Experiences of personal growth and self-exploration
  • Life planning and life transitions
  • Grief and loss
  • Low self-esteem and self-criticism
  • Men’s and women’s issues
  • Building intimacy
  • Conflict resolution in relationships
  • Disabilities or chronic illnesses, such as cancer
  • Addictions
  • Stress management
  • Gay, lesbian, bisexual, and transgender issues
  • Abuse, neglect, and incest
  • Depression and anxiety
  • Parenting
  • Family adjustment to transitions of divorce
  • Issues related to aging, such as dementia and Alzheimer’s disease

Fees

The cost of therapy sessions varies based on several factors. Each of our therapists brings a unique set of skills, training, and experience to his or her work with clients. Additionally, many of our therapists take the unique financial circumstances of clients into consideration when setting fees (often referred to as a sliding fee scale). Read more about each member of our team by clicking here, and call individual therapists to learn more about his or her fees for services. If you are unemployed or economically disadvantaged, the Low-Cost Clinic provides counseling and therapy with graduate students and interns at a greatly reduced cost. To learn more, see below.

Low-Cost Clinic

The Low-Cost Clinic offers options for those who might otherwise be unable to afford therapy, and our fees are set based on the unique financial circumstances of each client. Our goal is to provide you with the help you need, regardless of your ability to pay. The therapists of the Low-Cost Clinic are interns and students from graduate schools, including The University of Houston – Clear Lake, Our Lady of the Lake University, Pacifica Graduate Institute, and others. These therapists receive close supervision by Jill Scott-Reagan, CCR director, and Barbara Abramowitz, director of the Low-Cost Clinic. The therapists of CCR work as a team, and clients of the low-cost clinic give their permission for their counselor to discuss their cases with the other team members.
